Beta at Furman began with the formation of the Beta Epsilon fraternity in the spring of 1981. The university moved to replace local fraternities with national fraternities in the early 1990’s, and Beta Epsilon became a colony of Beta Theta Pi in the fall of 1993.
In 1997, at the 158th General Convention in Washington D.C., the efforts of the Furman Betas resulted in the granting of a charter and the official establishment of the Zeta Lambda Chapter. After a brief hiatus, the chapter was recolonized in the fall of 2008.
Since then we have been thriving as true Men of Principle, providing the opportunity for many young men to mature into adults.
